SUNRISE TOUR FROM SETUMBU HILL

Punthuk Setumbu Hill is one of the best spots to watch the sunrise over Mount Merapi and Merbabu as the background and see the splendor of Borobudur Temple in the morning trapped in a sea of mist. It's no wonder that Punthuk Setumbu has become a favorite location for watching the sunrise for foreign tourists and also a favorite spot for photographers. Punthuk Setumbu is located in the slope of Mount Menoreh, Kelurahan, Karangrejo, Borobudur District, Magelang, Central Java. It is about four kilometers distance to the west side of Borobudur Temple.

Punthuk Setumbu is a hill about 400 meters above sea level located in the Menoreh Mountains. Previously this place was a resident's field. However, after a photographer took pictures of the beautiful Borobudur sunrise from this place, people came to visit this place to watch the sunrise. Tourists who want to witness the beauty of Borobudur at dawn are advised to arrive at this place before 05.00 am. From the parking lot at the foot of the hill, tourists have to trek up for about five teen minutes to reach the top of Setumbu Hill with a route in the form of clean and smooth roads. For those who are not strong enough to climb to the top, not far from the parking lot there is a gazebo where tourists can watch Borobudur from a distance.
