The Borobudur Temple Compounds consists of three monuments: namely the Borobudur Temple and two smaller temples situated to the east on a straight axis to Borobudur. The two temples are Mendut Temple, whose depiction of Buddha is represented by a formidable monolith accompanied by two Bodhisattvas, and Pawon Temple, a smaller temple whose inner space does not reveal which deity might have been the object of worship. Those three monuments represent phases in the attainment of Nirvana. Borobudur Temple is located in Kedu Valley, 86 km from Surakarta and 40 km from Yogyakarta. Two twin volcanoes and rivers flank the temple. It’s located in an elevated region. In the 20th century, two other Buddhist temples were discovered while the temple was being restored to its former glory. They are located aligned to Borobudur Temple; it is believed that these temples shared a ritual relationship. The trip takes one and half hour. Borobudur is large and interesting. Visitors Stay in this temple for two hours. After visiting Borobudur, proceed to Prambanan temple.
What makes Prambanan temple compounds so special? Well, it is the largest Hindu temple in Indonesia. Prambanan is a magnificent spectacle and an icon of Indonesia’s cultural heritage. A heritage site established in the 9th century which located in Prambanan Village Klaten regency, Central Java and administratively belongs to two districts and two provinces at once. Those are Sleman and Klaten Regency. The distance is about 20 km from city of Yogyakarta. Prambanan is beautiful and unique. It has a large garden. There are four temples in one complex, namely Prambanan, Lumbung, Bubrah and Sewu temples. Next trip, continue to visit Candi Ijo.
Candi Ijo was built
around the 9th century, on a hill known as Bukit Hijau or Gumuk Ijo which is
about 410 m above sea level. Because of its height, it is not only the temple
buildings that can be enjoyed but also the natural scenery below in the form of
terraces like in agricultural areas with a steep slope. Even though it is not a
fertile area, the natural scenery around the temple is very beautiful to enjoy
it.
